The trade Unions are a strong part on the Swedish labour market and it is first of all the trade union that ensure that the labour law and the collective agreements are respected by the employers, not the authorities. Therefore it is very important to contact the trade union if any problem occurs at work.
Undocumented migrants do also have a legal right to protection against discrimination and harassment on the Swedish labour market. Sexual harassment are under no circumstances accepted.
There is no minimum wage in Sweden. Instead, wage is defined in the collective agreements between employers and the trade unions. The level of the wage paid differs between different branches. And it is important to note that everyone employed has the right to get the agreed wage on the agreed date.
An employer that has signed the collective agreement is obliged to offer all the employees the wages and other rights agreed and guaranteed in the collective agreement. That also include undocumented migrants and refugees seeking asylum.
